Design Committee

The physical appearance of a business district sets that district apart from any other community. It also plays an important role in customers’ perception of the district and desire to do business there.

Goal:

To develop a unified plan for downtown focused on improving the buildings and storefronts, allowing Marshalltown to become a showcase for Central Iowa.

Objectives:

1. Capitalize on the designation of downtown’s historic district.
2. Develop financial incentives to encourage building maintenance and improvements.
3. Develop a plan for improving the streetscape and public spaces.
4. Encourage the upgrade of storefronts and building restorations.
